Tragic Day!

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of those who died yesterday at the campus of Virgina Tech University.

January 16, 2002. Appalachian School of Law in Grundy, Virginia.

An ex-student went on a rampage killing a dean, a professor and a student and injuring three others. He was subdued by a group of students, led by a legally ARMED student, before he could kill anybody else.

"We saw the shooter, stopped at my vehicle and got out my handgun and started to approach Peter," Tracy Bridges, who helped subdue the shooter with other students, said Thursday on NBC's "Today" show. "At that time, Peter threw up his hands and threw his weapon down. Ted was the first person to have contact with Peter, and Peter hit him one time in the face, so there was a little bit of a struggle there."

The Virginia Tech "Campus and Workplace Violence Protection Policy" explicitly forbids students and faculty from having legally owned and handled firearms.

Virginia 2002: Nut with gun rampages through campus. Nut is confronted by armed student. Nut is subdued. Death count is 3.

Virginia 2007: Nut with gun rampages through campus. Disarmed populace is helpless. Nut kills until he gets bored with it and pops himself. Death count is 33.

You think maybe the founding fathers knew what the hell they were talking about with that 2nd Amendment?
